Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, April 29 (Bloomberg) -- Iraq's former oil minister Amer Mohammed Rashid al-Ubaydi surrendered to U.S. forces in Iraq yesterday and is in coalition custody, the U.S. Central Command said.
Rashid is number 47 of 55 Iraqi officials on the U.S. ``most wanted'' list, a statement by the Command said. His wife is Rihab Taha, who was in charge of Iraq's biological weapons program and is also being sought by coalition forces, the Associated Press reported.
Iraq was one of the founders of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
Some analysts have said a new Iraqi administration, to be formed following the U.S.-led war that ousted Saddam Hussein, may review Iraq's membership in OPEC as it moves to develop its oil industry to fund reconstruction.
