Petrobras
pushes back rig tender deadlines
Brazil's state oil company Petrobras Tuesday said it pushed back tender deadlines for construction of two oil production platforms at the request of seven of the 11 rig-builders in the process of making the bids. The due dates were pushed back from next month to mid-January. Petrobras said the original deadlines were pushed back because of the size and simultaneity of the two tender offers, the number of engineering documents required for the bids and the volume of technical clarifying requests received from bidders. A Petrobras spokesman denied press reports that the company was responding to a postponement request by the transition team of President-Elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. But as a result of the postponement, Petrobras officials appointed by the new administration, to take office Jan 1, will decide on the winning tender bid.
