Spain’s environment ministry has approved two
gas-fired, combined-cycle plants totaling 1,200MW proposed sepa-rately by Union
Fenosa and Endesa for the country’s north-east. The authorizations, disclosed
Wednesday in the official state gazette, spell out certain conditions for the
projects that the promoters must adhere to. The Fenosa CCGT, at 800MW, is to be
built at Osera de Ebro in Zaragoza province and has been budgeted at Eur378-mil
($370-mil). One 400MWunit is scheduled to come on line in third-quarter 2005 and
the other in second- quarter 2006. The 400MW Endesa CCGT, expected to cost around
Eur200-mil ($196-mil), is to be installed at Tarragona and is scheduled to go
on line in
third-quarter 2003.
