Ruhrgas has won a ten-year supply contract for a new CCGT in Nuremberg, the plant operator N-ergie said Thursday. The contract comprises the delivery of up to 2.6TWh per year. The Sandreuth power station is currently fired by hard coal, but is to be re-engineered to become a CCGT from 2005. N-ergie was unable to provide details on the future capacity of the plant. Ruhrgas said the contract was a continuation of the traditional close cooperation between the two partners. A gas pipeline is to be built to supply Sandreuth. N-ergie, which has an annual turnover of about Eur1-bil, is owned by local utility Staedtische Werke Nuremberg and Thuga, an affiliate of the new Ruhrgas parent E.on.
