French regulator CRE is seeking a remedy for the problem posed by insolvent supply companies, the regulator said.
Insolvent supply companies create imbalances on the power transmission and distribution grids and system balancer RTE
becomes the supplier of last resort. CRE said the law of Feb 10, 2000—modified this January—said consumers are not
able to draw power from insolvent suppliers through the networks. They must go back to the market and cover their
needs. RTE will retain the right to suspend supplies from insolvent suppliers to end consumers. This will be under
regulated conditions and rules will be followed by RTE, the CRE said in a notice published on its monthly newsletter.
