RWE plans to invest about Eur12-bil in its German power generation over the next 15 years, chief executive Harry Roels told the annual shareholder meeting on Thursday. By 2010, new plants with a combined capacity of 3,000MW will be built, provided that the political and economic framework for this is acceptable, Roels said. RWE is waiting for building approval for a new 2,200MW lignite-fired plant, in the Rhineland area within the next few months. The Essen-based company is planning to invest about Eur1-bil per year into power grid infrastructure. Roels said the UK was the second core area for investments in generation.
