RTE, Elia prolong allocation mechanism

The French grid operator RTE has prolonged the current mechanism of allocation of power transmission capacity from
France to Belgium until Oct 1, 2003, RTE said Friday. The coordinated mechanism for the allocation of transport capacity
from France to Belgium has been jointly operated by RTE and Elia since Jul 1, 2002. This mechanism was extended by amendment until Jul 1, 2003 with possibility of further extension by agreement. This has now been done and the current mechanism has been extended beyond Jun 30, 2003 and until at least Sep 30, 2003. RTE and Elia, as well as the regulators, are currently studying possibilities of further improvement for this mechanism likely to take effect by end-year.
